The Race for Baby C
On the morning of July 21st, 2012, our 2nd Annual Race for Baby C brought over 500 people who walked, ran, and gathered together to again celebrate the life of a special little baby girl, Carolena Long. The Race for Baby C event in downtown Fort Myers was a tremendous success thanks to everyone who came out to support this child and her family and raise money for her medical bills. Carolena, or Baby C, has Heterotaxy Syndrome, has multiple gastrointestinal defects and no spleen. Before Baby C was nine months old, she endured two open heart surgeries, two heart catheterizations, surgeries to repair malrotation of the GI tract, placements of a permanent feeding tube and Fonton surgery. Carolena will have more surgery in April 2013 and continues in a frail state of health with no immune system. In 2012, with the help of many sponsors who donated, money, food, beverages, prizes and support, a total net of over $20,000.00 was raised for Carolena and her medical bills!
The Race for Baby C is making plans for our 3rd Annual Fundraiser on Saturday, July 20, 2013. It is a chip timed 5k walk/run in downtown Fort Myers, Florida. Last year’s race was a tremendous success and we are looking to exceed that success again this year. This success is credited largely to our sponsors who lend their names and financial support. We are counting on your support. Please consider being a sponsor or donating to this very special event.
